Bowl’d: Authentic Açaí Bowls Soft Opening in Kuwait

In March last year, I was in Qout Market and I spotted an acai booth, I stood in a short line at first which grew much longer as the day progressed and ordered:

The North Bowl
Base: Naturally organic wild harvested acai puree, banana, strawberry.
Toppings: granola, bananas, strawberries, peanut butter.

Of course, I added cocoa nibs (I LOVE the texture!) and dug in! My hubby had a taste and liked it so much, but the weather was so cool for him to enjoy a cold dessert.

A few weeks ago, the owner Ahmad Alghaith contacted me with a soft opening invite to his new shop in Argan Square. I was delighted by the invitation and of course I accepted. Hamad was excited for me, because he knew how much I adore acai.

We woke up around nine, dressed quickly and headed to the streets seeking the shop with the help of Google Map, you see, the location is new, Argan Square isn’t done yet, so we looked for a parking and went inside; the weather was lighter than the usual heated summer of Kuwait and Salmiya was beautiful in the morning, and the sea was so striking.

The shop of Bolw’d is intimate, with light decoration, focusing on the natural colors like white, green and brown, it’s adorned with tropical fruits, green leaves and comfortable chairs. As we entered, the welcoming staff asked us right away for our orders, while chef Lolo took care of it.

Hamad ordered a coconut latte and Layer’d bowl, I ordered tea and The North Bowl (again!) Let me tell you this: the tea was so different, delicious, fresh and tropical I wanted to wear it like a perfume! I kept the remaining cup beside my bedside for a night just to smell it.

We talked a bit with the enthusiastic owner Ahmad who told us in length about the shop, identity, brands being used such as the unsweetened organic Açaí Purée Packets, and how healthy, organic and filled with superfood his dishes are, how he and his team brought the taste of Brazil all the way to Kuwait.

Now that the weather is growing lighter, I imagine that having such a trendy breakfast with some friends would be great. I hope you pass by Arjan Square and taste the bowls (and get bowl’d), here is the menu:

  1. These deserts sound amazing! And “The North Bowl” (nice ‘play on words’ ~ North Pole, North Bowl) sounds and looks delish! It’s a nice, healthy alternative to ice cream, and at the same time, helps keep you cool just the same!
